Husqvarna chainsaw chains are great but the types and sizing take some getting used to. This post summarizes what you need to know about Husqvarna chainsaw chains: sizes, types and identification.

Chains in the current Husqvarna chainsaw chain lineup are listed in the table above by pitch and gauge. For more details on the chain models see the tables below.
When replacing a Husqvarna chain:
- Identify the pitch and gauge of your bar. Look up the chain models with matching pitch and gauge.
- Pick the recommended type (bolded, a new X-Cut or other) for general use. For special applications, see cutter shape, sequence, and depth gauge breakdown below.
- See required chain loop length (in drive links, DL) from the bar.
Chain identification

Husqvarna saw chains have the model number stamped on the drive links (see image above). This number allows you to identify your old chain model and deduce the fitting size (pitch&gauge).
Unlike with Stihl, the Husqvarna chain numbers have no understandable code – they do not directly tell the pitch, gauge, or anything else. You have to look the number up in a table to get this info.
Husqvarna pitches and gauges
Pitch means the length of the links in the chain; gauge is thickness of the shark fins on the drive links. Both must match those of your saw and bar.
Husqvarna offers chains in 5 different pitches – .325″ Mini, .325″, 3/8″ Mini, 3/8″ and .404″ – and 4 gauges: .043″, .050″, .058″ and .063″. Note that all are mutually incompatible – also the low-profile/narrow kerf Mini and the base versions.
Read more on pitch and gauge in my article on Husqvarna bar compatibility. You may also want to check the pitch and gauges for your Husqvarna from my Husqvarna saw profiles.
Cutter shapes
The active Husqvarna chain lineup features only two types of cutters: (full-)chisel and semi-chisel. Chains in small sizes are mostly semi-chisel, and 3/8″ pitch models are all full-chisel; skip sequences are available for 3/8″.
This is in contrast to Stihl chains, which come in a wider selection of cutter types through the size range.
If you are not familiar with the terms, check my article on semi- vs. full-chisel chains.
Detailed tables
The current Husqvarna chain models are listed in tables below, sorted by chain pitch and gauge. When available, I have included a link to Amazon for the chain (Workshoppist.com is an Amazon Associate. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases).
.325″ Mini pitch
Husqvarna’s lightest chains are in the .325″ Mini pitch, .043″ gauge, and used in the battery-powered Husqvarna saws (535i, T535i, 540i, T540i). The only Husqvarna chain model in this pitch is SP21G as listed in the table below.

---|---|
SP21G ∙ Semi-chisel ∙ X-Cut ∙ Pre-streched | 12″ (51) 14″ (59) 16″ (64) |
3/8″ Mini pitch
Husqvarna uses 3/8″ Mini pitch chains in its small gas-powered models under 40cc or 2 hp (120, 130, 135, 222, T435, 439, T525, T540 XP) and optionally in some battery-powered models. These chains come in both .043″ and .050″ gauge models; list in the table below.
